A little bit of kick but nothing that will burn your face off. Add more hot sauce for a fiery taste.
Veggies cut, washed, and ready to go in the bowl.

Tis the season for joy, tasty cookies, pretty presents, and germs? How can you stay healthy during the holidays and not miss out on all the fun? Read on and learn how Renew Life Probiotics can help bolster your immune system.
Give the gift of improved immunity!
What do probiotics have to do with our immune systems?
Our “gut” is considered the core of our body’s well-being. 70% of our immune system is located in the intestinal tract! You don’t need to be good at math to know that, that is a significant amount. If the gut is not functioning properly, it can affect the rest of the body including immunity and digestion.
Leading experts agree (and I do too based on personal experience) that taking a probiotic supplement like Renew Life Ultimate Flora Probiotics is a good way to replenish good bacteria and support the overall balance of the digestive tract.
How to know if you need a probiotic?
After having out-of-the-blue gallbladder surgery, I learned quickly the importance of my digestive tract health. Something I picked up on were signs that my gut was in need of TLC. Watch out for occasional bloating, constipation, diarrhea, fatigue, headaches, and weight gain amongst others.
If you have experienced a digestive/gut issue in the past year you are not alone. In a recent survey, nearly 72% of women have gone through the same thing. No one really wants to talk about this. I know I don’t call my friends to talk about my bathroom habits.
Lucky for you, I’m not asking you to text your bff and spill the beans. All I want you to do is to check out Renew Life Ultimate Flora Probiotics. It’s unique, potent formulas contain tens of billions of cultures, and multiple probiotic strains that keep your digestive system thriving and helps you achieve better digestive and immune health.
Renew Life Probiotics wants to educate women about their digestive health and how vital its ecosystem is to their body’s overall health and well-being. Everyone can reap the benefits from taking a probiotic. Visit www.RenewLife.com for more information.
Once you start taking Renew Life Ultimate Flora Probiotics you will definitely feel a difference around 7-14 days. I know I don’t um, function well without it thanks to my missing gallbladder!
Try It For Yourself!
Renew Life Probiotics are available at health food stores and major retailers including Target and Walmart. Visit their site to find the store nearest you.

I was a little nervous I won’t lie. The dough tasted great but what about after baking? Well, I am happy to report these really are the best gluten free sugar cookies I’ve ever had. I hope you like them too!
Gluten Free Sugar Cookies
- 1 Large Pete and Gerry’s organic egg
- 1 Tsp baking powder
- 1/2 Tsp baking soda
- 2 Tsps organic cornstarch
- 2 1/4 Cups gluten free all purpose flour blend (I use “heritage blend” which is a one for one substitute)
- 2 Cups organic sugar -divided into 1 1/2 cups and 1/2 cup
- 1/2 Tsp salt (I used freshly ground himalayan salt)
- 2 Tsps vanilla extract
- 2 oz cream cheese (cut into pieces)
- 6 Tbsps unsalted organic butter
- 1 Tbsp organic milk
- Whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and cornstarch.
- Mix together 1 1/2 cups of sugar, cream cheese, and melted butter. Once most lumps are gone, add in milk, egg, and vanilla.
- Slowly add in the flour mixture to sugar mixture. Mix until everything is thoroughly combined.
- Refrigerate dough for at least 30mins.
- Preheat the oven to 350
- Line your cookie sheet with parchment paper
- Using either your hand or a spoon, roll the dough into about 1 inch thick balls.
- Roll the balls in the other 1/2 cup of sugar.
- Place on cookie sheet, and flatten.
- Bake for 11-14 minutes depending on oven. You do NOT want to over bake these. In my gas oven, at about 12 minutes ,the toothpick came away clear and the centers were still a little soft.
- Cool for 5 minutes and store in an airtight container.
When it comes to baking during the holidays you know like I do ingredients matter. One wrong move and no one at the family gathering will let you forget it. You used margarine instead of real butter? You know Aunt Sally can taste the difference. SHAME!
Ew gross! That was an example. Never use margarine!
So if you look at my lovely ingredient list again you will see I said Pete and Gerry’s Organic Eggs. Why so serious about the eggs? Well, Pete and Gerry’s eggs are not only delicious and versatile for a variety of recipes but they are packed with 13 essential vitamins and minerals, high-quality protein and healthy unsaturated fats and antioxidants. These eggs are produced without antibiotics, hormones, pesticides, GMOs, or animal byproducts. That makes Pete and Gerry’s Organic Eggs the perfect pick for your family.

What traits do you look for in a hero/heroine? Do they have the ability to leap tall buildings in a single bound? Or do they have a flying horse that carries them into battle? While I love a good comic book character, I want my children to also look up to real life people. A great way to teach children about history makers and changers is with these new books from National Geographic Kids: The Book of Heroes and The Book of Heroines. Read on to learn more about these books and enter for a chance to win a set of your own in my National Geographic Kids book giveaway!
Both books highlight the true stories of superstars, superheroes, war heroes, rebels, world leaders, peacemakers, action heroes, sport legends, and more gutsy gals and daring dudes. The Book of Heroines highlights heroes such as Mother Teresa, Marie Curie, Misty Copeland, Tina Fey, and Emma Watson. The Book of Heroes highlights heroes like Galileo, Sitting Bull, Michael Jordan, and Stephen Hawking.
Both of my children dove right into these books. My daughter is a warrior for what is right and what is kind. When she learned that The Book of Heroines would talk about other awesome women who did (or are doing) the same thing she couldn’t wait to read it. She has now read it cover to cover 10 times.
Go ahead and ask her about some of her favorites. She can proudly tell you all about them and find the exact pages they are on in the book!
My son was fascinated to find pictures of fire fighters, sport heroes, and animals. He wanted me and his sister to sit down and read all about them with him, excitedly pointing out names he recognized or cool pictures.
In both books I found some of my own personal heroes and heroines listed. People like Steve Irwin who was a hero of conservation and animals. Or Mulan who fought for her country, kicking tail like the tough woman that she was. I thought it was nice to also see animal heroes, even some of our favorite literary stars like Harry Potter and Princess, err General Leia Organa. They might not be real but they surely inspire generations of heroes and heroines to fight the good fight and stand up for truth and justice.
Although the word hero has many meanings, each person highlighted in these books share seven qualities:
- Heroes are courageous
- Heroes do the right thing
- Heroes have compassion
- Heroes are competent
- Heroes are inspiring
- Heroes never quit
- Heroes leap to action
Pick up your copy today!
Both The Book of Heroes and The Book of Heroines retail for $14.99 each and are great gift books for children ages 8-12. Buy them wherever books are sold, including Barnes & Noble, Books-a-million, the National Geographic Store , and Amazon (Heroes and Heroines)
