Have a Very Merry UnBirthday with an Alice in Wonderland, Mad Hatter Tea Party Birthday!I have always loved Alice in Wonderland, both the books and the classic Disney movie. My daughter and I decided it would be a lot of fun to host a Mad Hatter Tea Party for her birthday. It is a lot of fun to create a party from a theme that is not "in" or "popular" or "new." Parties like these make me stretch my creative muscles and I won't [more]

Paper Culture Eco-Friendly Custom Invitations and More!

Paper Culture, Eco-Friendly Custom Invitations

Paper Culture is an Eco-friendly company specializing in modern styled birthday invitations, labels, birth announcements and more! Whether you are looking for baby, kids, adults, or even a furry child, Paper Culture has you covered. With 1,000s of modern designs to choose from it might be hard to pick just one! Stationary, thank you cards, and address labels are also available (and can be ordered to match your cards). Paper Culture also has bamboo wall art, an environmentally friendly way of decorating your home.

For my order I was very interested in their Birthday Party Invitations. My son is turning 4 and we are having a pirate themed party. They had several cute pirate designs which made it hard for me to choose! Then I played around with the photo card options and my mind was made up. Although it’s not pirate-y we have never used invitations with the kids pictures and I just love the idea of it! Paper Culture also allows you to customized the back of your card for free. I used the back space to include all the RSVP information so the front didn’t have to be so crowded.

Out of all the cards I adored, I finally decided on this one for my little man.

Paper Culture Birthday Invitations

To see the pirate cards you can look at my Pinterest board: Party Ideas

Not only was I completely happy with my cards, I loved, loved, LOVED the Tree Dedication aspect of my purchase! It is such an unique feature of Paper Culture: with each purchase they plant a tree! Over 300,000 trees planted to date, how cool is that?! Not only does it make my inner green child jump for joy, I loved being able to choose a design and write out a personal dedication. I chose the Christmas tree design because it reminded me of all the times as a little girl I would help my grandmother decorate her tree.

Paper Culture Tree Dedication

Not only does Paper Culture plant trees with each purchase but all their cards and envelopes are made from 100% post consumer recycled paper. That means no new trees are cut down to make your cards or envelopes. Between the recycled paper and the tree planting, Paper Culture offsets it’s entire carbon footprint! Can I get a cheer?

It’s not just their commitment to Mother Earth that makes Paper Culture stand out but also their service.

For the paper gurus out there, Paper Culture uses 130lb, 17 pt thick paper compared to other companies that use lighter and thinner paper. Want to jazz up your cards but hate that it always costs extra? All cards and address labels feature rounded corners for free. Don’t have time to mail your cards but hate paying extra for the convenience of having someone else do it? The Mail & Message feature is what you need. They will stamp, address, and mail your cards. You only need to pay the cost of the stamp. Rounded corners and mailing services at no cost to you, one word: awesome! Also, everything is backed by their 100% Customer Satisfaction Guarantee.

Incase I am not a big enough celeb for you ;) Hollywood’s elite and magazines that I am sure you have heard of are also singing the praises of this company. Paper Culture has been featured in The Wall Street Journal, People, Real Simple, and more. Visit the Press Room for more. Celebrities like Jewel, Jason Bateman, and Elisabeth Hasselbeck also love Paper Culture. See what other celebrities are saying: Celebrities love Paper Culture.

Mamavation Monday: Race ReCap

Mamavation Monday

COLOR ME RAD was AWESOME!!! Or RAD but regardless of the adjective you choose to use I had a BLAST! Never ever, ever thought I would ever say that about running. If you haven’t done a Color Me Rad race you have to. Seriously, sign up like yesterday! If you’re like um what the heck is color me rad, I have a post all about it: Color Me Rad 5K: Fitness Shouldn’t Be Lame

So my non-scale victory is I finished my first ever 5K! It was outside which I had not truly prepared for. I did run outside but I kept to the paved trails. This race was through a field and off road basically so I had to slow up a bit but it was all good. We crossed the finish line strong and actually in less time than it usually takes to get 3.1 miles in. So yeah, pretty awesome.

I sure did not step on the scale this weekend or last week. In fact I probably wouldn’t like what I saw since we were spoiled by family this weekend with more food than I usually eat in a week! Well maybe not that bad but it was a lot of food.

A full recap of the race will be coming soon. Let’s just say I had so much fun, I want to do it again!

How was your weekend? Did you conquer a mountain like I did?

Mother’s Day Made Easy with Pure Natural Diva!

Pure Natural Diva Perfume, Organic Perfume, Natural Perfume

I am constantly looking for new, organic and natural products to replace anything that I still own with harsh chemicals. Although this passion started with food it has extended to beauty products. One of the last things on my list to find was a natural perfume. That does not mean I want a perfume that makes me smell like a flower child at Woodstock. So what is a girl to do?

Introducing Pure Natural Diva Botanical Perfumes. It was developed by a fellow blogger, the Pure Natural Diva herself Tania, who also is very passionate about natural/organic living. She believes that eco savvy living can be fabulous. After years of sharing natural goodness with her readers and a lot of research, Pure Natural Diva perfumes was born. I read all about the company and even heard some testimonials from other bloggers who I love. But as with anything, seeing is believing, or in this case smelling is believing.

Picking a favorite scent was hard. I told my husband I needed to have several girls’ nights to try each of the four scents out properly. All in the name of research I promise! In the end it was a tie between “Diva” and “Elixir.” Maybe it is because I like to think of myself as a Diva and Elixir reminds me of lounging at the beach on vacation. Whatever the psychological reason, bottom line is they smell great! Added bonus, they smell great without all the garbage chemicals. Win-win!

With Mother’s Day coming up you might be looking for a gift idea. We have you covered. Pure Natural Diva Botanical Perfumes wants to help make Mother’s Day easy. Purchase the trio sample packet of Pure, Natural, and Diva. It comes gift wrapped and along with a gift certificate redeemable for a full size (50ml) bottle of either Pure, Natural, or Diva the week before Mother’s Day!

Organic

The Pure Natural Diva line of organic perfume consists of 4 scents: Pure, Natural, Diva, and Elixir.

Conventional Perfume Risk Factors

Why the clamor for 100% natural? Consider these facts about conventional perfumes:

  • Clinical Studies have found that workers in the perfume industry are among the groups with the highest rates of occupational asthma.
  • Synthesized ingredients are a very real health concern.  They are only tested for their effects on skin without taking into account respiratory, neurological, or systemic effects.  This is the industry standard.
  •  Most conventional perfumes contain Diethyl phthalates, a known environmental toxin and suspected hormone disrupter.
  • The neurotoxic properties of synthetic musk found in most conventional perfumes  have earned their ban in Japan since the 1980′s.
  • America has the number one rate of cancer in the World; anything we can do to minimize our exposure to possible toxins is an important step towards health and wellness

The Pure Natural Diva Scents

  • Pure is sensually uplifting, like sunny day in a mixed field of lemongrass and Lavender. Notes include uplifting cassie, soothing chamomile, lemon, lime and an Egyptian neroli.
  • Natural is fresh and inviting: Imagine a picnic in a rose-bordered citrus grove.  Notes include a hint of clary sage, exalting pink grapefruit, Moroccan rose, and soothing ylang ylang.
  • Diva is full of soul—sultry and mysterious.  Notes include natural musk derived from Ambrette, sinfully smooth New Caledonian Sandalwood, blended together in a lusciously robust Vanilla.
  • Elixir wakens the senses, like a lingering morning with an ocean view.  Notes include aphrodisiacal vanilla, a hint of oakmoss, exquisite osmanthus, married with rejuvenating pink grapefruit and red mandarin.

Review: The Guide to Baby Sleep Positions

Review of The Guide to Baby Sleep Positions Survival Tips for Co-Sleeping Parents, hilarious book on co-sleeping

Co-Sleeping with your child is an experience. Notice I did not say a heavenly, perfect, or blissful experience. Before you get upset or cheer me on, co-sleeping is a little of all those but it is also an adventure with ups, downs, and what the heck just happened situations. This post is not intended to debate the merits of co-sleeping. If you happen to be someone who thinks co-sleeping is crazy hippy nonsense then this is not the article for you. Have a nice day and see you next time. But if you co-slept for one week, 2 months, or several years, read on and enjoy.

We co-slept with our daughter and it was not a decided in advance kind of thing. More like a decision born from sheer exhaustion. Honestly, I think it was a part of her master plan, but I digress. From phantom kicks in the dead of night to having no marital contact, Andy and Charlie from HowToBeADad.com cover it all in The Guide to Baby Sleep Positions: Survival Tips for Co-Sleeping Parents. This books brings back memories, or is it nightmares? Whichever it may be, it definitely brings laughs!

The guys have created an easy to use survival guide for all parents who co-sleep or are planning on embarking in the co-sleeping world. Quickly identify your baby’s sleep position that sabotages your rest, read up on the side effects, and consult the accompanying tips to learn how best to survive. I loved the level of difficulty included with each position and the boxes to check off “occurred, in progress, or mastered.” I was proud to say I have mastered all of these and I am still here to speak of it! The Guide to Baby Sleep Positions is a quick, fun read and a great gift for yourself or any co-sleeping parent in your life.

I had some laugh out loud moments, legitimately not “lol” which usually means I cracked half a smile, no I laughed with tears in my eyes remembering the days when I was in the midst of all this. Andy and Charlie are speaking from experience and it was nice to know I wasn’t alone in thinking this adorable little angel was secretly a saboteur. In an effort not to giveaway the entire book, I decided to narrow it down to my top 2 and my best friend’s number one favorite positions.

Baby Sleep Position No. 27: The Mugging

Difficulty: 4 pillows

Peaceful REM sleep… BAM what, who, why was I just hit?!

Baby Sleep Position No. 21: The Booby Trap

Difficulty: 3 pillows

Cue theme music and try to get into bed without waking baby.

Baby Sleep Position No: 9: The Pillow Thief

Difficulty: 3 pillows

Why do they always steal my pillow? My poor arm is numb now just thinking about it!

You can find this incredibly funny book on Amazon. Buy it today and let the healing begin!
