Have a Very Merry UnBirthday with an Alice in Wonderland, Mad Hatter Tea Party Birthday!

Have a Very Merry UnBirthday with an Alice in Wonderland, Mad Hatter Tea Party Birthday!I have always loved Alice in Wonderland, both the books and the classic Disney movie. My daughter and I decided it would be a lot of fun to host a Mad Hatter Tea Party for her birthday. It is a lot of fun to create a party from a theme that is not "in" or "popular" or "new." Parties like these make me stretch my creative muscles and I won't [more]

Captain America The Winter Soldier: A Must See! #CaptainAmerica   Captain America The Winter Soldier is the number 1 movie in the nation and the film with the largest April box office! And for good reason too. New Years Eve 2013 Looking Forward

Mamavation Monday

Oh hey there 2014. I could say something cliché like, can you believe it’s New Years Eve? But I won’t. I mean I am like woah it’s the end of a crazy year for me but I am looking forward to the New Year.

I don’t know about you but I am not the one who makes resolutions.  Every year I hear people say these are my resolutions or they make a list of goals. And more than likely they do not follow through. I think people think of resolutions as something that they should do because everyone else is, but without an actual plan it’s just words.

That is one reason I am excited to welcome back to my blog, Mamavation Monday/Mighty Mom Monday.  A weekly post about fitness and healthy living with other bloggers that I know. This will help me get and stay on track with my ongoing goals.

First order of business in 2014 is getting back on a consistent….I’ll say that again CONSISTENT gym schedule. Twice a week Zumba, and 3 days a week running. To help force me to run again, I am signing up for another Color Me Rad race. It was so much fun last time I did it that I cannot wait to do it again. Since I am so far off my running game, seriously I was doing 3 miles in under 30 mins ugh!, it looks like I will be restarting the Couch to 5K app for the race.

Nutritionally, I have been doing a lot better. Still buying organic, nongmo products and working on doing a makeover of my household products. It is a daunting task to think about how much stuff in your home is actually terrible, but slowly but surely I will make my home and life as green as possible. That’s to say without living in a BPA/BPS free bubble breathing filtered air.

What about you? 2014 is here do you make goals?

Natural Weight Loss Support with Calorease

I received Calorease for the purpose of this review. More information found at the bottom of this post.

Calorease a natural weight loss supplement

When it comes to weight loss everyone has their opinion. You should do no sugar, low fat, no fat, no meat, all meat, cookies, and on and on. Me personally? Eat right, eat clean, and exercise. It works pretty well but lately I have been on a plateau. Being in a holding pattern when you are trying your hardest to lose weight and tone up stinks. Nothing I was doing seemed to help get me off of it either. When Moms Meet asked me to review Calorease on my blog I thought my readers would be interested in this and hey if it helps me get off this plateau then that would be even better.

What is Calorease? Calorease is a natural weight loss support supplement. It is made from a naturally sourced dietary fiber that binds with fat in your body to keep it from hanging around.

To be perfectly honest, I usually don’t buy into any of this stuff. But I’ve been around long enough to know you should give something a try and like I tell my children “how do you know you won’t like it if you don’t try it?” I have been taking Calorease for the past 3 weeks and I am starting to see myself coming off the plateau. My measurements are beginning to go down again and I have to attribute that to the Calorease. I have not done anything different, actually if anything I have been worse due to my traveling a lot lately!

What I love about Calorease is that I don’t have to do anything crazy while taking it. I just get to eat the foods I normally would. Low Fat/No Fat diets drive me crazy. First of all they taste terrible and second of all if something is no fat it usually has more sugar to compensate for it. So either way you are ingesting more carbs/fats/sugars than you would if you just stuck to eating well balanced healthy food.

How exactly does it work?

The process works like this: Humans cannot absorb fat without digesting it first. In the small intestine, a digestive enzyme called lipase processes fat droplets into smaller fragments called fatty acids. Fatty acids are absorbed through the digestive tract, and then reassembled within the body to form fat. When the FBCx in Calorease binds with and coats the fat droplets, they become resistant to digestion so that the fat is less likely to be absorbed. Instead, the bound FBCx and fat complex passes through the digestive tract and is eliminated as waste.

In the words of me: Basically, calorease combines with the fat in your foods and keeps it from being digested. So instead of holding onto fat you get rid of it. That way the fat will be flushed away instead of on display on your thighs.

Just the facts

  • Calorease is easy to use, no brainer supplement. Just take two tablets with a fat-containing meal three times a day.
  • If used as recommended, results can be seen in about 2-3 weeks. This does not give you free reign to go facedown in every fatty food you come across.
  • There is no special diet or program you have to follow while taking Calorease. A reasonable, balanced, nutritious fat-containing diet is recommended.
  • Calorease does not contain gluten, lactose, yeast, wheat, sugar, salt, egg, soy, dairy, artificial colors, sweeteners or preservatives. It is naturally sourced from grain and is suitable for vegans.

I encourage you to Like Calorease on Facebook to stay updated on the latest offers and promotions. Also, Calorease is offering Teachable Mommy readers a 50% discount! You will only pay $14.99 for a 90-tablet pack! Visit Calorease and enter code 4MOMS during checkout!

Mighty Mom Monday- Down But Not Out

#MightyMom healthy living and encouragment for all moms

If coughing until your abs hurt counted as core exercise or cheering on your favorite football team to victory was cardio then this week would have been a success. Unfortunately, I don’t think they count and that means I didn’t have such a mighty week.

Thanks to this lovely laryngitis which turned into a head cold I was down for the week. But not completely out. I did managed to make it to the gym Monday night for Zumba, paid for it afterwards of course. At least I went. The rest of the week I just tried to breathe through my nose and not cough up a lung. Success rate: about 50% if I’m being forgiving. So yeah it’s been a rough week and I wanted to go for a run but wasn’t sure my lungs could stand it.

Ehh it happens.

What’s a mighty mom to do? Shake it off and keep at it. Just keep swimming, just keep swimming… It’s a new week and although not 100% I’m better enough to get back to my regular workout schedule. I just wish it wasn’t so hard to force yourself back into a routine. I feel like that is some sort of conspiracy thought up by evil skinny people. It could happen. Anyways, yes it will be hard, it will suck, and I’m sure I will be sore.

So this week I’m asking for some motivating, encouraging words from you, my most awesome readers. What about you? What can I do to help you with your healthy living goals?

Mamavation Monday: Stretching IS Important

Mamavation Monday

Stretching. Is. Important.

Of course it is important who doesn’t know that? Can I just say, you can know something but not do it? That whole head knowledge vs heart knowledge and practice what you preach thing. So yes DUH I know that stretching is a must before and after every workout. But halfheartedly stretching while talking to your friends is not really accomplishing anything. And if you aren’t a teenager anymore your body probably needs to stretch so you don’t hurt yourself. Why yes I am speaking from experience.

Last Monday my favorite instructor taught a double Zumba class. He had asked if his regulars would be there for both hours and my friends were like YES! I was like um sure I guess… Not that I don’t love his class but it is hard. 2 hours of torture? But peer pressure can be a good thing. Short story long, we went, I didn’t really stretch, and now my hip muscle is sore. Like when I stand up from sitting for long periods of time ouch *limp limp*

Moral of the story: Stretch properly before working out. Or end up walking like an old woman when you’re only in your twenties.

In other fitness news: I will be at the gym tonight for Zumba (properly stretching before it starts!) and tonight on Mamavation TV we are chatting about indoor air quality. Did you know the air in your house is more polluted than the air outside? Opening your windows during the day can help clean up your indoor air even if it’s only for a little bit. Check out the event on Mamavation at 7pm PST/10pmEST to learn more.

How was your week? Meet any goals or need some encouragement? Let me know in the comments below!

Mamavation Monday: Planks and More

Mamavation Monday

Week 3 of the #TMPlanks challenge has started and it is getting hard! My tolerance for planks before this was 1 minute tops. Today I did 1.5! Might not sound like a huge increase but for me it is. Tomorrow is 2mins dun dun duuunnnnn. My only concern is when I hold a plank for longer than a minute it feels like my lower back is being pulled apart. I am holding the plank properly (my friend who is a physical therapist and body guru showed me how years ago) so I know that is not it. Any ideas? It hurts while holding the plank but afterwards it goes back to feeling normal. I just don’t want to screw up something in my back because that’s where I have chronic pain and issues anyways.

Get in on the challenge, if holding a 1minute plank is out of your league that’s ok! Just hold it as long as you can :)

30 Day Plank Challenge, Plank Exercises

This week on Mamavation TV we are talking about avoiding toxic foods with Andrea Donsky from Naturally Savvy. I am so excited about this topic. I am always looking to learn more about food labels and ingredients. And from what I’ve heard Andrea is amazing! Check out the show here: Google +

I wanted to say a big CONGRATS to all the new Mamavation Moms! I can’t wait to go on this journey with you all!

After I finish the TMPlanks challenge what other fitness challenges would you recommend? The only thing I couldn’t do is anything with a lot of squats or burpees. Gotta love joint issues!
